			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Somebody posted a comment that asked how you could test whether a nested table column is null. The <code>NVL</code> didn&#8217;t work because it doesn&#8217;t support the SQL data type.</p>
<p>I added how you could do it to <a href="http://blog.mclaughlinsoftware.com/oracle-sql-programming/nested-tables-and-how-to-join-them-to-their-containing-rows/">an earlier blog post</a> on joining non-collection row data to collection columns. The added entry shows you how to check whether a nested table column is null, empty, or populated. It’s a quick example that uses the same scalar collection of strings previously covered in that example.</p>
